Lockout Tagout in the Workplace
Course Overview:
Lockout and Tagout procedures are the primary means for employees that use and maintain power equipment to protect themselves and others against the release of hazardous energy. The law requires these workers to be trained on these procedures. Since 2011, OHSA has markedly increased its enforcement of this standard as a result of too many injuries and fatalities that continue to be related to the lack of adherence to proper lockout/tagout procedures.
This I-CAB approved course will help the learner to recognize many of the common power related hazards and understand how the lockout/tagout procedure can mitigate the associated risk amongst other critical topics. The recommendations contained within CSA standards Z462 are factored into the course. Lack of compliance with lockout tagout regulations can result in criminal consequences as well as fines for both employers and workers. Please refer to your provincial regulations for specific details. Course Topics Throughout this course, workers will learn the 7 Step Lockout System:
